what a difference a mere thirty days makes, no? this guys is now full of smiles and coos and sweet baby gurgles. he's holding up that big old head and looking around at whatever catches his eye. sleeping a bit better too, thank goodness--3 a.m. playtime seems to be a thing of the past.

we do love him lots, that's for sure. can't wait to see what the next month brings!

we took him camping. we hauled diapers, footed jammies, 568 onesies. a pack and play, a bouncer. i nursed him on beaches, in tents, while sitting in those really uncomfy folding chairs that are for some reason quite popular. jeremy walked and bounced him for hours in 95 degree weather. i entertained him, in the dark, quietly, during the fine hours of 3-5 a.m., while the rest of the family slept soundly beside me.

he rewarded these dedicated efforts with the first real, true grins of babyhood. oh my cuteness.

a fine trade off, if i do say so myself.

i am still getting used to the fact that we now have two boys. double the fun, double the trouble? only time will tell!
